Press Details: JazzFest 2009 Art Design Contest

Main Street: Murfreesboro/Rutherford County, Inc. invites everyone to participate in the 13th Annual JazzFest Art Design Contest with a grand prize of $300 for the winning design. Art must be submitted no later than 4 p.m., Tuesday, February 17, 2009 to the Main Street office location, at 225 West College Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130.
The winning entry will be announced on or before Friday, March 1, 2009, and also introduced onstage at JazzFest on Saturday, May 2, 2009. In addition to $300, the winner will receive two patron tent tickets, two t-shirts, one poster, a Daily News Journal photo op and a stage presentation during JazzFest.
All school age children grades 1 through 7 may submit an entry to the "JazzFest Kids Art Contest" and judges will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. The first place selection will receive a $50 savings bond as well as be entered into the regular competition. All mentioned rules apply.
Contestants will submit a fun design that appeals to both sexes and encompasses the diversity of Jazz music and Murfreesboro. The design must also include the festival name, "Main Street JazzFest 2009," and location, "Murfreesboro, TN."
Avoid designs with intricate detail that would be difficult to transfer to a t-shirt as well as clip art and other copyrighted art, which will be immediately rejected.
Entries must be quality color copy, printout or original, keeping in mind that presentation is important. Do not write any names on the front of the submission, as the winner's name will be added separately after the party is announced.
Include name, address, phone number and email address on the back of the submission. Art with the artists name on the front will be disqualified. All submitted art becomes the property of Main Street: Rutherford County, Inc., which reserves the right to make minor changes to any submission.
All following specifics are mandatory: Art must be mounted on white board with finished art not to exceed 12" wide by 14" tall and must be designed for a white t-shirt, but also may be used on other advertising mediums to promote the event and corporate sponsors. Acceptable art mediums are watercolor, oil, acrylic, tempura, pastels, block prints and serigraph.
Digital art submissions must be supplied on a CD and formatted as Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, Photoshop, in EPS or JPEG, PDF or TIFF. Resolution must be greater than 200 DPI when image is at actual completed size. Colors should be set as butt register and must not exceed four ink colors.
Lines will not be less than two points and all type will be converted to path. An accurate color proof will be submitted as your entry and mounted on a white board. Record PMS colors used on the back of submission along with all other information listed above.
In order to receive full compensation, winner must participate in photo op and be at JazzFest on May 2, 2009 to sign posters and participate in the stage presentation.
